The meal is heading for Norway where it will be used to make alginates and more. About 1000 tons are leaving.

The staff has been working on 8 hours´ shifts to take the meal out of the towers (newly renovated mechnical snails and pumps make this easier than ever) into the newly painted trailer boxes and out to the pier. All the weight is registered, saved and later reported.

Two tractors, four drivers, three weight checkers, three crane-operators attend the work this year. Last year, due to the failure of the old pier all the algal-meal needed to be transported over to Hólmavík.

Therefore this is quite a happy event, everything goes according to plan and much faster than before. The people of Reykhólar may be proud of their new pier and much better harbour.
